detailed features

CST has just released CST Suites 2006B.   Some new key features of the CST MICROWAVE STUDIO® 2006B include:

    - Multi-Level Subgridding for selective local mesh refinement
-- Provides increased simulation efficiency for large workspace analyses
    - Improved solver efficiencies for parallel processing and multi-processor
        support
    - All EM solvers now support 32 and 64 bit operation
    - Distributed processing of T solver to Linux systems
    - New Integral Equation Solver for large scattering and radiation problems
    - Frequency Domain solver supports field ports with arbitrary orientation
    - Seamlessly shift between high frequency and low frequency/thermal
        analysis within the same environment

CST MICROWAVE STUDIO® has a broad range of features to meet the demands of diverse problem sets. Notable features include:

GUI/THE CST DESIGN ENVIRONMENT

3dThe most significant change made in CST MICROWAVE STUDIO® 2006 is the use of the CST DESIGN ENVIRONMENT™ as a common access point to CST’s solver technology. Structures are presented in 3D and schematic views. Further improvements include:

  • Easy coupling of EM with circuit and thermal analysis in one tool
  • Multiple document interface
  • Customizable short cuts
  • Arbitrary cut planes
  • Layer stacking
  • JEDEC compliant automatic bondwire creation
  • Enhanced visualization of tables
  • And more....

CO-SIMULATION/WORKFLOW

Interoperability is a key strength of CST MWS. This has been consolidated through the addition of new import filters and improved interfacing between different solver technologies.

  • Fully automatic co-simulation with Agilent ADS
  • Improved interface to Cadence® Allegro®
  • CATIA® v5 interface
  • Mecadtron/Inventor/VDASS-FS import
  • Import of Simlab current distributions
  • New Spice extraction scheme
  • Thermal analysis of electric losses

PERFORMANCE

Considerable improvements in the performance of CST MWS’ solver technology have been implemented:

  • New PBA meshing algorithm, especially robust for highly complex imports
  • Distributed computing
    – less data transfer
    – improved network error tolerance
    – greatly enhanced performance for high number of clients
  • Improved Frequency Domain solvers
    – extremely fast S-Parameter solver for resonant structures
    – faster Eigenmode solver [incl. lossy materials]

TETRAHEDRAL FREQUENCY DOMAIN SOLVER

CST’s aim to deliver Complete Technology for 3D EM has produced significant advances in CST MWS’ tetrahedral Frequency Domain solver:
