Capacitance1 is the capacitance (in pF) of a one-port or two-port circuit assuming a series RC. Any parasitics to ground at the selected port are included in the capacitance calculation. For example, a one-port circuit might contain an extra parasitic, represented by ''Y'' in the following diagram:

where Ceq and Req contain the effect of Y. In this case, the capacitance1 calculation gives the equivalent capacitance, Ceq.

This equation is not valid for three or more ports. If the circuit is a two-port, the capacitance is computed based on shorting the other port to ground as shown below:
