Edit - Cut

Parent Previous Next

The cut command differs when used in a geometry project file versus a netlist project file. See the applicable section below.

Geometry Project

Edit - Cut removes the selected objects from your circuit and places them into the clipboard. Any selected points, ports, and vias are also deleted with the polygon and copied into the clipboard.

First, select the objects that you wish to put on to the clipboard. These objects may be on a single layer or multiple layers. Then choose Edit - Cut. The objects are removed from your circuit and placed on to the clipboard. The objects remain in the clipboard until you replace them by doing another Cut, Copy or Duplicate. Objects on the clipboard may be pasted in a different place in the circuit or even in another circuit file.

TIP: One use for Edit - Cut is to move objects from one layer to another.

Netlist Project

Edit - Cut removes the selected element or network from your netlist and places it in the clipboard. If a network is selected, the project editor removes all the elements in that network also.

First, select the entry line of the element or network that you wish to remove from your circuit and put on to the clipboard. Then choose Edit - Cut. The line is removed from your netlist and placed on the clipboard. The element or network remains in the clipboard until you replace it by doing another Cut, Copy or Duplicate. An element or network on the clipboard may be pasted in a different place in the netlist or even in another netlist file. Note that pasting a network adds multiple entry lines to your netlist.
