Customizing Sonnet Windows
Sonnet offers you the ability to customize the layout and appearance of your Sonnet windows. This flexibility allows for efficiency and effectiveness when working on projects.
Detach a Tab
Tabs may be detached from their present window to create another Sonnet window. You may detach one of the tabs by clicking on the tab and dragging it out of the window. To return the tab to the Sonnet window, you may drag it back into the window. Below is an animation which shows a tab being detached from the main Sonnet window and docked again.
Using this same technique, you may rearrange the order of your tabs and move tabs from one window to another. Also, you may use the menu Window > Detach Tab and Window > Dock Tab to detach and dock tabs.
Move a Panel
Panels may be detached and docked to another location within the window, or they may be detached and left floating above the main window. In order to move a panel, click its title bar and drag it to your desired location. The animation below shows how to move and dock a panel, and then move it to a floating location.
Stack Panels
You may stack panels on top of one another by clicking the title bar and dragging it over another panel. This allows you to configure your space. Once you move a panel on top of another, they share the same panel location. To toggle between the two panels, click the tabs at the bottom of the panel as shown in the animation below.
Move a Toolbar
To move a toolbar, click its handle, and drag it to the new location. Handles are located on the right or top of the toolbar, depending on the orientation of the toolbar. In the animation below, the toolbar handles are outlined in red.
Hide a Toolbar or Panel
To hide a toolbar or panel, select Window > Toolbars and Panels and uncheck the highlighted toolbar or panel. To show a hidden toolbar or panel, repeat the menu path and check the toolbar or panel.
Managing Toolbars and Panels
Additional commands under Window > Toolbars and Panels are listed below.
Tool Button Text: Select this command to toggle the display of text appearing under toolbar buttons.
Lock Toolbars and Panels: Select this command to toggle allowing the movement of any of the toolbars or panels in the present tab to be moved.
Save Window Layout: The configuration of a tab is automatically saved whenever you make a change so that the appearance is the same the next time you open that type of tab. However, you may wish to save a custom layout to be used for certain tasks. To do so, use the Save Window Layout command. This allows you to load the configuration later using the Load Window Layout command.
Load Window Layout: Selecting this command allows you to load a saved window configuration. When you select this command, a menu of previously saved layouts is displayed.
Reset Window Layout: Select this command to change the layout to the default configuration.
