Divide Polygons

Selecting Edit > Divide allows you to split an existing polygon to create two new polygons from the original. Also, this function allows you to split multiple polygons. When you select this command, the cursor changes to indicate that you may draw a dividing line. Drag the mouse where you wish to divide the polygon(s). When you release the mouse button, the divide is executed.

The dividing line may be drawn at any angle, or restricted to orthogonal angles by holding the shift key while dragging the mouse. To change the orthogonal angles, select View > Options > [Snap/Ortho] and change the settings in the Ortho section of the dialog box.

If you select polygons prior to executing the divide command, only the pre-selected polygons are affected.

Use Pin mode to lock a command and continue working in that mode. Click the Pin mode button Pin Mode Icon or hold down the Shift key and click a menu item or toolbar button. Press the Escape key to exit Pin mode.
