Frequencies

This section of the Cadence Virtuoso Interface main window controls the analysis frequencies for your Sonnet simulation. You are able to set up multiple frequency sweeps for your Sonnet analysis.

If the only types of frequency sweeps entered are the Adaptive Sweep and/or list of Frequencies, then the sweeps are displayed on the main page. If you enter additional frequency sweeps in the Frequencies dialog box then all of the sweeps defined for your analysis are displayed in the Frequencies dialog box. In that case, a message appears in the main interface directing you to the Frequencies dialog box. .The controls are detailed below.

Adaptive Sweep: An Adaptive Sweep provides a fine resolution frequency sweep by performing an em simulation at a few discrete points, and then using a rational fitting algorithm to calculate the fine resolution frequency data. Enter the beginning of the desired frequency band in the Start text entry box and the ending frequency in the Stop dialog box.

If you only input a Start frequency, the solver will perform an analysis at that discrete point. Note that the Stop frequency must remain blank.

If you input a Start frequency of zero, then the response at DC point is automatically created by extrapolating downward using the adaptive data.

Freq. List: Enter a list of desired analysis frequencies here. This is useful if you need multiple specific frequencies which are unrelated. Each frequency is a floating point number and must be separated by a comma from the other frequency values. The frequency unit is displayed to the right of the text entry box.

For example, if GHz were your frequency unit and you wished to specify 2 GHz, 7.37 GHz and 15.2 GHz, you would enter "2,7.37, 15.2" in the text entry box.

More: To add other types of frequency sweeps, please click on this button to open the Frequencies dialog box.

NOTE: If any additions or changes to the settings have been made in the Frequencies dialog box, then a message is displayed in this section in place of the controls.
