Graph - Calculations

Parent Previous Next

In order to plot a pattern you must pre-calculate a collection of pattern data. You may only plot patterns that use data which is in the collection. You may add or remove pattern data to/from the collection. When pattern data is deleted the pattern will be removed from the graph.

The Calculations setup dialog box may be opened by any of these methods:

1.   Selecting Graph - Calculations

2.   Pressing the Calculations button from the Manage Curves dialog box

3.   Pressing the Calculations button on the Graph toolbar of the Far Field Pattern Window.

In addition, it will open when the Far Field Pattern is first opened.

The Calculations Setup dialog box contains three or four tabs: Frequencies, Angles, Ports, and Parameters (if your project uses parameters). Click on the appropriate tab to select which page you want to input your values for the calculation. For 2D plots, adding frequencies and parameter combinations will automatically add curves to your plot. Adding more angles will not. For 3D plots, when you change the frequency or parameter combination your plot will automatically be updated with the values you entered.

Note (for 2D only): The Far Field viewer allows values for Theta from 0 to 180 degrees. However, values of Theta greater than 90 degrees are below the horizon and are only useful for antennas without infinite ground planes. To view just the top hemisphere, sweep theta from 0 to 90 degrees and sweep phi from -180 to + 180 degrees.

Calculate: Click on this button to perform the calculations on the inputs to the Calculations Setup dialog box.
