Material Setup dialog box

NOTE: If you are using a Sonnet technology file (.stf) which contains proprietary information, some material properties will not be displayed and proprietary materials may not be edited with the exceptions of defining planar metals as thick or thin and setting the number of sheets.

The Sonnet Material Setup dialog box allows you to define planar metal types and via metal types for your Sonnet project. Once these materials are defined, they may be used to map Virtuoso objects to Sonnet objects during translation. The Material Setup dialog box is opened when you click on the Materials button in the Substrate File Setup dialog box.

The defined metal types are listed in the dialog box. Lossless is the default metal for both planar and via metal types in all Sonnet projects and may not be deleted. Note that the present length unit is displayed in the upper right hand corner of this dialog box.

Add Planar: Click on this button to add a new planar metal to the list of Sonnet materials. A planar metal is created using default settings and added to the list. If you wish to change the definition of the metal, click on it in the list to select it, then click on the Edit button to open the Edit Sonnet Material dialog box to enter the desired parameters.

Add Via: Click on this button to add a new via metal to the list of Sonnet materials. A via metal is created using default settings and added to the list. If you wish to change the definition of the metal, click on it in the list to select it, then click on the Edit button to open the Edit Sonnet Material dialog box to enter the desired parameters.

Edit: Select a metal in the list, then click on the Edit button to open the Edit Sonnet Material dialog box which allows you to change the properties of the metal.

Delete: Clicking on this button deletes the presently selected metal type.

Double-clicking on an entry in the Materials dialog box opens the Edit Sonnet Material dialog box to edit the entry.
