Preferences dialog box - General Tab
The Keyboard dialog box is opened when you click on the Keyboard button in the Preferences dialog box of any of the following programs: project editor, response viewer, current density viewer or far field viewer. This dialog box allows you to define custom hot keys for the application in which it was opened.
Categories: Select the menu which contains the command for which you wish to define a hot key. The Commands list to the left will be updated when you select a new category.
Commands: Select the command for which you wish to define a hot key from this list. The contents of this list is updated whenever a new category is selected in the list to the left.
Command Description: This section of the dialog box contains a brief description of the presently selected command. If there is a factory default defined hot key for this command, it is displayed here. To restore the factory default hot key definition, click on the Clear button in the Currently Assigned Key section of the dialog box.
Specify keyboard shortcut: This section of the dialog box allows you to define the keystroke(s) you wish to assign as a hot key for the presently selected command. Click on the Press a key text entry box and then type the desired key. The typed key appears in the text entry box. If you wish to use a Shift or Ctrl key as part of the hot key definition, you may select the appropriate checkbox or hold down the Shift or Ctrl key when pressing the desired key. When the latter method of entry is used, the appropriate checkbox is automatically selected. Once you have entered the desired definition here, you must click on the Assign key below to define the hot key for the presently selected command. Note that you may not use the Alt key as part of a hot key definition.
Windows Users: If you wish to use a hot key that is defined in a Windows operating system, such as Ctrl-C, you must enter the C in the Press a Key text entry, then explicitly select the Ctrl checkbox. Simply pressing Ctrl-C as an entry does not work in this case.
Currently Assigned Key: If the presently selected command already has a defined hot key, the hot key appears here. To remove the hot key, click on the Clear button. If there is a factory default hot key for the presently selected command, then pressing the clear button restores the factory default hot key. Clicking on the List Assigned Shortcuts button opens a window on your display which lists all of the presently defined hot keys; the factory default hot keys appear first followed by user defined hot keys. You may print this list by clicking on the Print key in the list window.
Export: If you wish to export your hot key definitions for another program, click here. A browse window appears so that you may specify a destination file for your hot key definitions.
Import: If you wish to import hot key definitions from another program, click here. A browse window appears so that you may specify the source file (. bnd) you wish to import. When you click on the OK button, the definitions are imported.
Assign: Once you have entered the desired hot key definition for the selected command in the Specify keyboard shortcut area of the dialog box, click on this button to assign that key combination to the command. You must click on the Assign button for each hot key that you wish to define. If you enter a definition, then do not click on the Assign button the definition is not used.
Factory Defaults: Click on this button to restore all of the factory default hot keys. This eliminates any previously defined keys input by you.
