Short Courses

We are conducting introductory and advanced seminars addressing the use of our 3D planar electromagnetic software, Sonnet Suites.  Classes have been held in Silicon Valley, the Boston area, Baltimore/Washington, Phoenix, Dallas, Los Angles, Portland OR, and various other sites.  Each session lasts about 3 1/2 hours each and the class descriptions are as follows:

Introduction to Sonnet 11 and Sonnet Lite: AM Session - 8:30AM - 12:00PM

  • This course assumes you have some background in microwave design, and will take you through an introduction to the Sonnet 3D Planar electromagnetic (EM) analysis suite using Sonnet Lite. You will also have the opportunity to work through examples of real microwave circuit designs, and in the process understand how to get more out of your Sonnet software than you might have thought possible.
  • See the Course Outline for the introductory class.
  • It is strongly recommended that you bring your own laptop with Sonnet Lite 11 already installed, registered and verified to be running. It is available for free download at http://www.sonnetsoftware.com/lite/ . Due to the condensed nature of the seminar we will not have time to load the software during the session and computers will not be supplied but CDs of Sonnet Lite will be available.
  • Registration of Sonnet Lite is important since it increases the size of the model you can run during training.
  • Examples presented in the class will be hands-on examples that you can work through on your computer during the class.
  • INTRODUCTORY LEVEL ATTENDEES WILL RECEIVE A COMPLIMENTARY COPY OF SONNET LITE PLUS--A $495 VALUE!
  • Pre-registration Cost: $149 (non-refundable) Registration at the site will be $249.
  • Attendees will receive a training manual and a Sonnet Lite CD.

Intermediate Training for Sonnet Professional: PM Session - 1:00PM- 4:30PM

  • This intermediate level course is aimed at current users of Sonnet Level2 and above, and will highlight newer features and how they are best employed.
  • Topics to be covered will come from: Sonnet Components, Using Vias, Ports & De-embedding, Netlist & Errors Convergence with Meshing, Conformal Meshing, and Currents on Metals & Thick Metal Models.
  • The attendees are not required to complete the introductory Sonnet training course prior to attending this advanced topic course. The attendees should however, have a good understanding of the Sonnet Professional user interface and planar circuit construction.
  • Familiarity with basic Electromagnetic terms is strongly recommended.
  • Pre-registration Cost: $49 (non-refundable) Registration at the site will be $99.
  • Attendees will receive a hard copy of the training manual.
