Sonnet Suites: Now Supporting Windows 7
Since Sonnet's new Desktop Solver (DTS) and High Performance Solver (HPS) engines now support parallel processing on multi-core Intel and AMD processors, many of you have been considering new hardware to better leverage the performance improvements possible with our solvers. We are pleased to announce that the Sonnet Suites Version 12.56 is tested and certified to support the Windows 7 operating system, which now comes pre-installed on many of the new PC configurations. Sonnet Technical Focus: Are your substrates REALLY isotropic?
Most microwave and RF designs today are based on the assumption that our substrates are isotropic. That is, we assume that their dielectric properties are the same in each component direction. Further, the substrate properties are commonly assumed to be frequency invariant. Dr. Jim Rautio of Sonnet takes on this assumption with a careful look at common high frequency substrates, and what he reveals might surprise you. With Sonnet Suites Release 12, you can easily handle microwave substrates with uniaxial anisotropy, including variation with frequency. Read full article
