Conformal Meshing

Ultra-efficient meshing of curved and diagonal transmission lines

Sonnet Software

Conformal Mesh cuts memory requirements by a factor of 30 and simulation time by a factor of 90 over rectangular meshing for this curved Wilkinson power divider.

Conformal meshing allows you to model non-rectangular edges with a higher degree of efficiency. Since conformal sections can be diagonal, or even follow curves, subsections can be much larger which yields faster processing times with lower memory requirements for your analysis. Sonnet conformal meshing automatically includes the high edge current in each conformal section. In conformal meshing, Sonnet can achieve the speed of using large subsections, and at the same time enjoy the accuracy of using small cells. This patented Sonnet capability is unique.

Conformal meshing is a key technology in Sonnet, enabling a level of accuracy and efficiency for curving and diagonal transmission line structures not found in any other 3D planar high frequency EM software package.
