Current and Charge Density Display

Easily Visualize your Current or Charge Density

Current visualization adds tremendous value as a circuit troubleshooting aid, and is a source of valuable insight into circuit behavior. As a post-processor to Sonnet, it provides you with an immediate qualitative view of the electromagnetic interactions occurring within your circuit. We have incorporated animation features into the viewer, providing visual color (or grayscale) display of your circuit's current density changes with frequency and time. Sonnet enables you to view these changes on any layer. If you introduce "sense layers" into your circuit, Sonnet will show you the relative tangential electric field intensities where you want to see them.

Current distribution visualization is a good indication of the quality of an electromagnetic analysis. Note that the Sonnet results always show a clear and well defined edge singularity (i.e., high current at the edge). The edge singularity is required by Maxwell's equations. Also, the current distributions are smooth and reasonable. If you see results which lack an edge singularity or which look ragged and rough, the underlying analysis should be treated with caution.
