Sonnet Suites - Gerber/ODB++ Import and Gerber Export
Sonnet Suites – Gerber and ODB++ Translator
Both Gerber and ODB++ files are handled by a single translator. Gerber file capabilities include import and export, while ODB++ is import only. This translator is only available on the Windows platforms.
Gerber files pose unique challenges to analysis software because they include numerous, small polygons to indicate the metal filled regions. Sonnet only requires the metallization pattern outlines for meshing and all polygons are assumed to be filled. The Gerber translator contains advanced, automatic unioning capabilities to simplify the Gerber geometry for efficient analysis in Sonnet.
Sonnet's Gerber import includes an important step of adding all overlapping Gerber fill polygons to yield the simplest possible composite shapes with the lowest number of vertices possible--ensuring reliable and efficient meshing in the EM analysis engine.
Additional Features of the Sonnet Gerber Translator:
- Support for RS274X Gerber and common drill file formats
- Single and multi-layer import
- Conversion of drill files to Gerber format for via mapping
- Integrated board design viewer with ability to window specific regions for import
- Sonnet project file export to Gerber and drill files.
ODB++ databases include all files required to fabricate, assemble, and test a printed circuit board (PCB). The Sonnet ODB++ translator carefully reads the portions of the database which describe the PCB and then converts this information to Gerber files for import into Sonnet.
