License/Registration Troubleshooting

The following information can be used if you are having trouble installing or registering Sonnet Lite. This page is divided into three main sections:

Overview of the Registration Procedure

The Sonnet Lite registration process consists of three main steps:

  1. Registration (by user) - The user performs the Register Sonnet Lite procedure (Taskbar: Admin -> Register Sonnet Lite). The output from this is a text message which includes a coded section. Encoding is used to preserve the accuracy of the information as it passes from mail server to mail server. This message is emailed by the user to Sonnet Software.
  2. Key Code Generation (by Sonnet Software Inc.) - When the message is received, it is processed automatically by reading the coded portion of the email message. A reply email with the subject line, "Sonnet Lite key codes from Sonnet Software" is sent to the email address entered by the user. This email can often be mistaken for SPAM, so please check any SPAM or junk mail folders if you don't receive the email.
  3. Install License (by user) - The email sent back to the user will have instructions for installing the license.

Once these three steps have been successfully completed, this installation will be licensed to access the enhanced Sonnet Lite features.

Registration/Licensing Tips

There are several common areas in which this registration/licensing process can breakdown. Several tips are outlined below to help prevent and troubleshoot registration/licensing problems:

  1. Please ensure the accuracy of your email address when you enter it during the registration procedure. A simple typographical error will prevent the delivery of the "Key Code" email to the user.
  2. If you have not received the reply "Key Code" email from us and you have determined that it was caused by an error in your email address, you must repeat the Register Sonnet Lite procedure. This corrected information must be encoded in the email and there simply is no way to edit the existing text message and resend it.
  3. Ensure that your registration email message is sent to the proper address sonnetlite@sonnetsoftware.com. If your message does reach our mail server, but is addressed incorrectly, we will make every attempt to forward the message to the proper address. However, this will significantly delay the process.
  4. Do not use the License Request Form on our website to attempt to register Sonnet Lite. The purpose of this page is to allow our Sonnet Level2 and above customers the ability to perform this step online. This is a completely different process than the one for Sonnet Lite, so it simply will not work.
  5. Please be patient. While the Key Code generation process is automated, it may take anywhere from an hour to a day for the entire process to be completed. Remember that any delay caused by the sending and receiving mail servers is included in this response time as well.
  6. Repeatedly sending your registration request to sonnetlite@sonnetsoftware.com will only have the effect of slowing the process for everyone.
  7. Sonnet Lite can be installed on more than one machine. However, if you would like to register each copy, you must perform the entire registration procedure on each machine. Sonnet Lite license files cannot be shared between different machines.
  8. Please be aware that the Sonnet Lite license is valid for a limited time. When your current license expires, you will be warned during the use of the software. To reregister your existing version of Sonnet Lite, you must repeat the entire registration procedure again.
